Bluetooth 100 times faster in 2008
Special Bluetooth Interest Group and WiMedia Alliance are to lean on the future of technology without wire Bluetooth used massively and in particular on the mobile apparatuses (PDA, mobile telephone...).
In order to improve connectivity without wire between television, walkmans, mobile telephone, computers... Bluetooth Special Interest Group will work on a major update of the Bluetooth technology which should be 100 times faster than current Bluetooth. Envisaged for 2008, the "Bluetooth news generation" will benefit from a speed of transfer of 100 Mbits (12.5 MB/seconde) against 1 Mbit/second currently.
Bluetooth Special Interest Group thus hopes to facilitate the greedy data exchanges in band-width like the video. The "Bluetooth news generation" should be in particular based on the technology UWB (Ultra Wideband) which will limit the transmissions in a radius of 10 - 15 meters. This new technology will use the frequency band of the 6 GHz.
Technology should preserve its properties related on the safety and the consumption of energy. Currently, more than 500 million products use Bluetooth technology. From here the end 2006, more than one billion products will be compatible Bluetooth. The first prototypes accompanied by Bluetooth news generation are awaited for the second quarter 2007. The availability of mass and official launching are planned for the beginning of 2008.
