OneNote is a software specially for the purpose of note taking. It makes student's life easy for taking notes on a laptop, notebook etc. It is hard to do the same with a word processor. e.g. On paper, you can write down some lines the teacher dictated and draw a graph alongside to understand it later on. This thing is kinda difficult to achieve in a word processor like Ms- Word.
The features? Well, it has the auto-save feature, it lets u copy pictures, clippings, and record video notes. It lets u add documents belonging to Office programs, add date and time, add additional notes, lets you create ur document as a Word file, lets u add picture as a background to your notes, allows password security, etc.
However, it suffers from some drawbacks like no way of importing PDF files into OneNote, no support for tables, no hyperlinks between notes, etc. It has touchscreen features which work only with touchscreen enabled PC's.
It is supported only on Windows 2000 with SP 4 or later and Windows XP.
