Summer makeup: some great ideas
Summer is not the time for heavy makeup schemes. The harsh sun and humidity is hard on your skin and hair. To add to that, excessive sweating may actually melt your mascara to an unmanageable state halfway through the day. So, do you go out sans makeup? Well, that is certainly a solution for minimalists. For the fashion-conscious, however, here is a list of stuff to do, with which you simply cannot go wrong.
1. Sunblock – The harsh sun is unforgiving on your skin. The sun's rays can give you a dryness that is hard to combat, even with skin supplements. Use a good sunblock with a high SPF to keep your skin safe and moisturized even on the hottest days. Your skin will thank you for that all day long!
2. The 'natural' blushing look – Wearing a foundation is not always a good idea. However, putting a little blush cream on the cheeks is always a good way of getting some great color.
3. The 'hairy' fact – Your hair may often go limp during summer due to the sweating of the scalp. Use adequate quantities of moisturizer on your hair to keep it bouncy and healthy, all day long. Many top companies have released hair moisturizers especially formulated for the summer season. Pick these up for perfect hair care this summer.
4. Eye shadow versus eyeliner – If you have oily eyelids, it might be a good idea to skip mascara and eye shadow altogether. Go for eyeliner and always prepare the eyelid before you put it on. This will prevent smudging of the liner during the day. A lot of companies have also released specially formulated moisture resistant eyeliners. Include these in your shopping list.
5. Chuck the heavy lip work – Skip the heavy lipstick and go for the lighter ones. Heavy lipsticks will look even darker as the day progresses and will leave your lips feeling sticky. Go for the lighter shades and mix up the lipstick with a little petroleum jelly to keep your lips feeling moisturized all day.
6. Pedicure and manicure – Keep your nails short. This will help prevent collecting grime. Also, go for a pedicure at least once a week to get the dead skin removed from your feet, especially the heels. This will make your feet look pampered and also feeling great.
7. Light perfume / deo-spray – Skip heavy perfumes this summer. Go for fruity or light flowery perfumes for smelling fresh throughout the day. Deo-sprays are also good ways of controlling the rate of sweating. Less sweat will mean less body odor, and a fresh feeling for you.
Follow these tips and you are sure to feel fresh all day long through the harsh summer.
